On December 16, under the witness of Madam Jiao Yang, Chairperson of Fudan University Council, Fudan President Prof. Xu Ningsheng signed an MOU with Hungarian Minister for Innovation and Technology Prof. Dr. László Palkovics on setting up a new campus in Budapest.
The MOU marked a new chapter for Fudan’s overseas development and China-Hungary educational cooperation. Hungary will provide land, teaching and research facilities for the new campus as well as legal and administrative support. Meanwhile, Fudan will aim to offer new majors catering to local and European contexts and emerging interdisciplinary foci, thereby facilitating research and training programs and promoting high-tech innovation in Hungary.
Madam Jiao extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government’s support for Fudan’s overseas development. She said Fudan would do its utmost to facilitate the construction of the new campus by cooperating with the Hungarian government.
President Xu briefed the guests on the project and remarked that the new overseas campus would be a milestone in the history of Fudan’s development.
Minister László Palkovics introduced the latest progress and upcoming plans concerning this new international educational collaboration project, which the Hungarian government has prioritized as its national development agenda.
Vice President of Fudan University Prof. Chen Zhimin hosted the ceremony. Iván Kovácsics, Counsellor of Minister for Innovation and Technology of Hungary, Levente Horváth, General Adviser to the Governor of the Central Bank of Hungary, Bolla Szilárd, Consul General of Hungary in Shanghai, and representatives from faculties and offices of Fudan also attended the ceremony.
