On April 18, QIU Xin, Chairman of Fudan University Council, met with the delegation of the University of Queensland led by Vice-Chancellor and President Deborah Terry. The two universities exchanged views on further expanding cooperation in education and research.
Terry expressed her pleasure visiting Fudan again, noting the long-standing and close partnership between the University of Queensland and Fudan University. She highlighted the shared affiliations of both universities as members of Universitas 21, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis. Terry looks forward to exploring future collaborations in areas such as business management, biomedicine and artificial intelligence.
Qiu welcomed the University of Queensland delegation on behalf of Fudan University. He expressed hope that the two universities would further deepen student exchanges and research collaborations and work together to address global challenges. He also emphasized the importance of an all-rounded education that includes culture, arts, and sports, in addition to academic skills. Recognizing the University of Queensland’s leading position in physical education, he hoped for increased exchange and collaboration in this field.
The year marks the 20th anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding between Fudan University and the University of Queensland. Established in 1909, the University of Queensland is a public comprehensive university located in Queensland, Australia, and is well-known for its strong teaching and research capabilities.
The meeting was also attended by Brett Lovegrove, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland, CHEN Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University, and representatives from relevant departments of both universities.
