Fudan inaugurates institute dedicated to art research

On December 8, Fudan Art Institute was established, with renowned artist and educator PAN Gongkai as its director and distinguished scholar SHEN Yubing the executive director.

The Institute will harness the rich intellectual resources of Fudan in the realms of arts and humanities, carrying out interdisciplinary research and delving into an array of disciplines including philosophy of art, aesthetics, art history, museology, and journalism.

The Institute intends to offer over 20 courses to all Fudan students, admit PhD students through School of Philosophy and hire postdoctoral researchers. To nurture professionals in art history, art theory and curating, it will also collaborate with major art institutions such as the Shanghai Museum and the Power Station of Art (PSA) in Shanghai. Additionally, the Institute will recruit scholars from home and abroad to forming a robust academic team.
