
Max Baucus, member of the International Advisory Board of the School of Management at Fudan University and the 11th U.S. Ambassador to China, visited the School along with his wife, Melodee Hanes, and their delegation recently. JIN Li, president of Fudan University and chairman of the School’s International Advisory Board, met with Baucus and the delegation.
Jin extended a warm welcome to Baucus and his delegation. He noted that Baucus has long been committed to fostering sound China-U.S. relations, and expressed his confidence that Baucus’ role as a member of the International Advisory Board will empower the School of Management’s internationalization strategy and help further enhance the global influence of Fudan’s management discipline. Jin also introduced the latest progress of Fudan University in interdisciplinary integration, international exchanges, and the development of a globalized campus, expressing his hope for further deepening cooperation with U.S. universities and relevant institutions in the future.
Appointed as a member of the Third International Advisory Board of the School of Management in 2025, Baucus shared his insights on current China-U.S. people-to-people and cultural exchanges based on his long-standing experience in promoting youth and educational exchanges between the two countries. He also introduced the student exchange programs to China that he has been advancing in the United States. He stated that he looks forward to closer cooperation with the School of Management at Fudan University to continuously facilitate international exchanges, encourage more young Americans to study and engage in exchanges in China, and enhance mutual understanding between the youth of the two nations.

During the visit, Baucus and his delegation toured the Zhengli Precinct of the School of Management. They learned about the planning philosophy and spatial layout of the precinct as an open educational and commercial complex, as well as the School’s practices in integrating educational resources, advancing industry-education integration and promoting collaborative development.
